THE CHURCH COUNCIL
In the United Methodist Denomination, local churches operate with five major committees, a Church Council, Board of Trustees, Committee on Finance, Committee on Nominations and Lay Leadership and the Staff Parish Relations Committee. How the churches operate may vary, but these committees are all important for the smooth running of the local church.
Christ Church UMC operates with a full Board model. The Church Council is the administrative agency (Board) of Christ Church UMC, and it is comprised of the elected officers and persons appointed to lead the various Church committees. The role of the Council is to envision, plan, implement, and evaluate the ministries of the congregation on an annual basis. Church Council members are also expected to be
involved in the mission and ministry of the Church through nurture, outreach, and witness.
